Dr. Natalie D. Baker is an Associate Professor of Security Studies at Sam Houston State University. Past research critiques assumptions about disaster preparedness, response and resilience. She now focuses more on violent non-state actors, war/conflict, criminal governance, and the role of emotions and fantasy in how people make sense of situations cast as existentially threatening. Baker has published peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Media, War, and Conflict, Critical Policy Studies, the Journal of Strategic Security, among others. Her book tentatively titled Hellscapes, will be published in 2022. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
